John 5 had his stage name was bestowed upon him back in 1998 when he joined rock group Marilyn Manson as their guitarist taking over from Zim Zum. John 5 also is the permanent guitarist for horror rock maestro/musician/cult film director Rob Zombie.
He is also a solo artist having recorded three critically acclaimed guitar albums - 'Vertigo (2004)', 'Songs For Sanity (2005)' and 'The Devil Knows My Name (2007)'. He also works as a staff writer for Crysallis Records, working with artists such as Avril Lavigne, Garbage and FeFe Dobson.

Tele master John 5 met with Premier Guitar before taking the stage with Rob Zombie at the Bridgestone arena in Nashville on November 25, 2013, to talk tone, Teles, and what’s really in his “lava-lamp” guitar. 5 is a Tele-vangelist who owns at least one Telecaster from every year of production, including an ultra-clean. Keep laptop OPEN (and hit F1 and then F4 key) so all you see is the 'live' Guitar Rig on your screen. This is why I said to get long USB cord and set laptop up on sturdy stand BEHIND your amp. My amp is behind me which means the laptop is behind the amp and that puts it out of the way of the crazy dancing people. As soon as i chose the rocksmith guitar in the device tab my guitar rig 5 crashes and i get this message. Guitar rig 5 has encountered a major problem and has been terminated. A crashlog file has been created at following location: c: user Documents ativie instruments guitar rig 5 crashlogs 2013-07-26 124241 – guitar rig 5-mini.nicrash. So when I run Guitar Rig 5, I can get the sounds out from it in my amp. However I don't get those effects recorded into Ableton. – user30574 Jun 26 '16 at 18:42 So it sounds like Guitar Rig is only passing your sound with effects to the Focusrite output, and Ableton is using the clean bus in that Guitar Rig is using.
